Bodrum is on the Southeast Aegean coast of Turkey where we benefit from exceptional weather conditions; clear, blue sky, warm sun, a climate without humidity and a cooling breeze called the Meltemi. This is a constant, refreshing breeze from May until October. The water is crystal clear and very warm, too.
All this means that Bodrum has a very long Summer season. More than six months of glorious sunshine with very low humidity and virtually rain-free. Year round temperatures are very mild.
Although known primarily as a summer holiday destination, Bodrum can be very enticing in other seasons. Many who visit Bodrum in the Spring or Autumn welcome the opportunity to more intimately enjoy Bodrum's many attractions without facing the inevitable crowds and lines at some tourist sites.
Bodrum does not close down in September. The town continues an active yet much less frenetic life. Temperatures are still pleasant and we have much more time to spend with our guests.
Spring and Autumn are especially wonderful seasons in Bodrum and along the Southeast Aegean coast. The Turkish words for Spring and Autumn are 'Ilkbahar' - the first spring and 'Sonbahar' - the last spring. Imagine two Spring seasons.
In Spring the scent of early blossoms fills the air, the hills and valleys are green with vegetation. The temperate, sunny days are ideal for hiking and crowd-free sightseeing.
Autumn begins with the Bodrum Cup Traditional Wooden Yacht Regatta held annually. Well over one hundred stately wooden yachts can be seen under full sail. The sea is still warm for swimming and it’s a pleasure to visit historical and natural sites in the cooler weather or to shop at the many end-of-season sales.
Since Bodrum is home to a large international community, we enthusiastically celebrate the Christmas and New Year holidays, Turkish folks from all over the country join us New Year’s Eve.
